Three Position Toggle Function, Momentary Action

Three Position Toggle Function, Momentary Action DiagramClick to Zoom

This application uses a momentary action illuminated pushbutton switch to provide function similar to a traditional three position toggle switch. The primary active state is “OFF” and each time the switch is depressed the active state toggles between OFF, SYS1, OFF, SYS2, OFF. The progressive transitions have the same interface function as a multi-position toggle switch but with the added value of an illuminated legend.

The three position function is achieved with a single momentary action VIVISUN High Capacity Body that contains a single switch pole and a NEXSYS Electronic Rotary (ER1).

The switch powers up in the off state with the “OFF” (C) legend illuminated by the /Q1 output (K2) of the ER1. When the momentary switch is depressed and released the /Q2 output (K3)becomes active and provides ground illuminating the “SYS1” (A) legend and the SYS1 function. When the switch is actuated for the second time the /Q3 output (K4) is activated providing ground back to the “OFF” (B) legend. The third switch depression activates the /Q4 output (J2) illuminating the “SYS2” (D) legend and activating the SYS2 system. The fourth depression once again returns to the /Q1 off state illuminating the “OFF” legend.

This application is an effective option to a three way toggle switch with all operational hardware contained in a VIVISUN High Capacity Body. This circuit may be used as a base design that can be expanded to include time delay options with the Pulse/Timer or power conditioning flexibilities with the Solid State Relay.
